Theres a recession? Where?

I see stupid people with housing problems.

I see stupid people with credit card problems.

I see LOTS of people with big home, expensive cars, new toys, all of which they can't afford.

Yet I don't see too much of a recession, aside from the news peoples predictions. FOX had a guest on saying how the only recession was in the news.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

Yeah, how much of it could be avoided if it wasn't for the news yelling "depression/recession" every minute!

On the other hand, I am in retail, my products take 15-20% jumps in my cost, overnight! order one week at $10 and next week they are $12! Plus a gas surcharge of course!

My situation:

People are spending less
Utilities are all higher, significantly higher electric bills
Gas surcharges on deliveries
Costs of goods going up repeatedly
Suppliers low on stock, thus causing sourcing problems
Let staff go and cut hours of operation
My paycheck does not go as far b/c of rising gas, food, & utility costs.
:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Had to :cry:, this is hurting my stingray keeping hobby! Cause they aren't cheap to care for!:grinno:

So yeah, I agree with Jim, but we are ALL paying for it unfortunately! Only good thing for me is if the interest rates drop to 3% or so and I can re-fi my mortgage.:headbang2

Recession: Decline in GDP (gross domestic product), or negative real economic growth, for 2 consecutive quarters.

We're not in one yet, but it's looking like it. Q4 for 07 showed .6 growth, warming things up for recession. Also firms shed like 60,000 jobs in Feb, never a good sign. There are a lot of other factors, but that's where the recession is.

And how many stocks/bonds/funds do you have? You can tell my portfolio how the looming recession is only in the news. Then again, I am saving to buy all I can when this hits rock bottom.

I think we are talking about 2 things here. A "Recession", referring to a depression, isn't just a decline in GDP for 2 consecutive quarters, rather, it is when GDP is 0 or below. THAT is a "real" recession. And we have yet to hit that....yet....

Wow imagine that The Rebuplican News channel says recession only in the news.. lol You can say it's not "technically" a recession but it still sucks.

Gas prices are killing me along with groceries and tuition going up. Im 23 and the most exciting part of my week is my off day, Sunday. Can't go out on the weekend (broke), can't go camping (gas) and havent taken my wife out in forever. Can wait until the economy betters itself

No offense cause Im 22, but how are you old enough and have enough real experience "in the economy" to know the difference between a recession and not? Just because YOU are broke does not mean there is no recession.

Take me for example, Ive finally got a great job now that Im finishing up school and doing very well compared to years before...I think the economy is doing great...you see you cant look at it like that...

Ha, I'm a wealthy aristorcrat! No worries of a recession here!

*looking out the window* "Hey, is that my car? Where are you going with my car?! Dude, bring back my f***ing car!!!!"

I hate working in a drivethrough.
