How High Is Your Energy Bill?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
2 tanks only, and mine is 380 a month. damn fish are more expensive then me lol. they eat better then i do too. but dang how i love them things

Ouch, how much of that do you figure is Aquariums? Does anyone have a pre and post aquarium electric bill?

Yea, ours runs about $450/month for electric alone during the summer. About $200/mo in the winter. It gets way up over 100 degrees here and 90% humidity.

$250-$350. More in the summer cause the air is on and so are the koi pond filters. Getting solar panels installed next spring. Should bring my bill down to $20-$50 a month. All that means is more money for more tanks. :headbang2

Hey everyone. I just wanted to know how much your monthly energy bill is every month? I live in Northern California and my energy bill has been creeping up. I just paid last months bill and it was about $255.00:WHOA: I looked at the breakdown of the bill and saw that $15.00 was for gas and $240.00 went to electricity.:WHOA: I can't wait for my water bill to come. The water bill comes every couple of months so I'm wondering if the cost of water has gone up? I hope I get the water bill before my wife sees it. I'll just pay it myself:grinno: The Doctor

You can't directly compare prices with others in different parts of the country, let alone in different parts of CA. I'm up near Sac (Norcal) and our electric company is about 20-30% cheaper than PG&E. Again you have to take into account the size of the home, ceiling height, number of stories and the the big things, use and age of A/C and heating (I don't think you guys have A/C) the age of appliances, and the price for each KWh in each tier (the more you us the more it cost). My highest in the summer was about $177 (in the winter it gets down to around $120-$140), but that is in a 2 story home, about 3.5 years old, A/C used int he summer and almost a total of 900gals of aquariums, in a medium size home. Running your aquariums, depending how much equipment you have, may not be causing a majority of your $255 bill, you need to look at other things in your home, such as you Fridge how old is it and how many do you have?

Gas (For Heat & Hot Water) is $60 a month on the stupid budget plan. It is like $15 in the summer but $200 in the winter so they spread it out.
Water is usually $40-50.
Elec is $70-100 depending if it's summer or not, I run the air a lot in summer.

So $170 - $210 a month.

Small 900 sq/ft Condo with low ceilings and a few tanks.

Been in my house three months. 150 - 230. 169 last month.
Georgia - 2k sq/ft (20 years old)
Energy Star Thermostat, tripple pained windows.
All major appliances are energy star.

AC is a few years old. Some cheap brand (didn't make that purchase)

The 230, was when a window unit was running constantly on the porch nad not adjusted for when we were not home.

Georgia Power.
