Our first house we bought 5 years ago, brand new, our bill was between $50-$80 a month year round, we moved to another new home but doubled the size and doubled the electricity bill.
That is like say a vehicle that gets 35mpg gets decent mileage, if the vehicle is a big V8 or V10 truck, that would be very good mileage, with out the details you are not comparing apples to apples.
Roughly the same electric bill. However, I live on the East coast, so water is free. Seven college kids in 2/3 of a rented house. Not bad, eh? Considering I have six tanks totalling 134 gal...
My light bill with one window a/c unit running during the summer runs about 140.00. When it was really hot, we ran 2 window units and the highest was 180.00
I pay for water, but right now it's about 25.00 a month. That about 3 loads of wash a week, watering horses, dogs & chickens. When I filled the tanks when we moved in, it went up to 68.00 for that month.
Gas, had been running 15 or less. only use for heat, hot water heater & dryer. Had heat on yesterday & today so that will climb up now plus water will be high next month as I'll be filling the 125 I'm planning to pick up this coming weekend in next week or two.
