I'm all for everyone having insurance. It's a good, smart thing to do. I disagree with this bill being called 'affordable' though ... having checked the plans where I live under it, it would cost 50% more a month (that's after qualifying for the subsidy) for 10% less coverage. And I couldn't even afford the insurance through my work, and I've talked with people still there that have said the business will be dropping it's insurance if this passes, getting rid of the cheaper option. If the government were serious about health care, it should be like several countries do now where it is all covered by the government, 100% as a basic necessity of it's citizens. Much better use of the money than over paying politicians that have the power to provide their own raises each time.

ready to have your pay check taxed at 35 to 45%? get in line for needed surgery? there is a price to pay if the guv covers all and gives no choice. Just something to keep in mind with that ideal.

Oh, I will be going with some crappy cheap one if this passes to be sure. Doesn't mean that the current bill should be called 'affordable'.

I wasn't talking about Canada. There are other countries whose taxes are lower than ours, and their medical is still completely paid for. Part of it is paying politicians a reasonable amount instead for 173K-400K a year. Not all of course, but part.

no offence but can you name me one?

if you look at NORWAY.. AND SWEDEN.. you might find that their health care (and life expectancy ) exeeds what we have inthe states for affordability and quality... just off the top of my head...I MAY be mistaken

Ah ha. Found it. Mauritius ... free health care and education including college, at 15% tax rate (per the link you posted as well as checking their tax sites). Important to note on their taxes, no businesses have exceptions like we have, which is a HUGE chunk of change ... Granted they are a small country and we are not, but this is what happens when you don't have the special interest groups and lobbies and such.

Ignore the ultra liberal blathering at the end about killing our military. I have no issue with having a military. I just say don't over pay our politicians. I'll gladly do their job for 40K a year instead of the 174K they get as an entry congressman.
