A 12" Scomb? I don't think so, Tat's and Armatus are very very different from scomb's, God I hate Scombs.

Not really, scombs and armatus look very close to each other, tats are the different ones beacuse of the red tail... Actually scombs are the biggest, they get over two feet.

Dude, Scomb's do not get 2 ft in captivity, MAYBE in the wild. And no they are no where close to being the biggest Hydrolycus Sp, Armatus can get 3.5 ft in the wild and tat's can aswell. Here are some pics of wild Tat's and Armatus.

First the tank has to have an adequet amount of Bio-colonies established in order to remove large amounts of waste in a very small volume of water. The filtration will also have to generate substanial amouts of oxygen to keep the fish healthy. However, this would still be very temporary and improbable for most Hydrolycus species, they need to swim.

Otherone I don't think this kid will ever get. I think we should just force his parents to adopt him to me and I will let him live in the box from my new refrigerator. Don't worry though I will put a fan in there so he gets lots of fresh air. And I will make sure I feed him at least every few days. Do you think $1 cheese burgers from McDonalds would be a good staple for him?

I never said they got that big in captivity :screwy:

And really? You better check your references. According to fish base, the largest caught scomb was *over twice as big* as the largest caught armatus and tat, at 117 cm.

Scomb

Tat

Armatus

Not saying that scombs are always bigger than armatus. Hey look, heres a pic I just found of scomb!

hyarm.jpg (file name) is likely not a scomb.

The largest proven scombs are in Georgia at the Shedd aquarium. They are a little over a foot. All the wild caught fish photos are armatus and there are a few tats as well.

Scombs are a frail short lived species. When you see a large scomb, you can tell that it looks quite old. I haven't seen any photos of wild caught scombs (no replys with pictures of wild caught armatus and saying "What about this?" please).

Fish Base has made a huge mistake then, The largest Scomb like someone else said is at Shedd Aquarium at 16" that's not 3.5 ft.
