How long do you keep you lights on for?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
30g, a few plants but not enough to be called planted, some Loaches, a Ctenopoma, a Flying Fox, 2 Plecos... I leave the lights on from when I wake up to when I go to sleep. I like to have good algae growth for the Flying Fox and the Plecos.

125g, Oscar, sunfish, plants and a pleco, 8 hours a day. I do get some algae but I'm okay with that.

55g, Ball of mollies, !Chinese Algae Eater!, Giant otto, Giant Columbian ramshorn snail, pond snails in small numbers, Brachyrhamdia Meesi, Striped Raphael, deformed baby longear sunfish, two angelfish, plants, light 12 hours a day to keep up algae production for the inhabitants. Still almost no visible algae thanks to al the glass-scraping fools in there.

Interesting that not everyone uses timers. I think they're essential.
Good to know that I'm about right with the 10hrs of light.
