How long do you leave your lights on????

I never have algae but then again the lights aren't on very much at all. Usually 7pm-11pm. Basically when it gets dark in my apt. or I remember and off at 11 because i work real early.
Actually i lied a bit. I look at the fish now and the lights aren't on and it's 7:25. Now to turn them on.
The fishroom is on 12 off 12 so I can do feedings before and after work.not much algae.I wish.I have a few hundred bn plecos that would love it.The showtanks are just on a a few hours in the eve.My kids tanks are only off when I remember to turn them off.
8 hours a day for my planted tank and i turn my lights on when feeding my gulper catfish. - the light lets them know its feeding time! (they come out of hiding and begin to hunt!)
By the way i am feeding my pleco,with him i only feed him once a week because he gets lazy (if you saw the size you would agree) the tank was established and had the water problem,so i did a complete tank change,SO my fish eat just fine,Thanks you, If I was starving fish do you think I would be on this website asking ?'s

Lights on at 12:00-off at 10:00
Im thinking now i am going to keep them off for longer in the morning. Maybe put them on at 3:30 and off at 10:30.

I have a dual timer which brings the lights on at 1:00pm - 10:00pm and the power head comes on 2 hours off 30min. repeats every 2- 1/2hours
