How long do you leave your lights on????

for me most of my lights are on about 5 hrs during the week day. and during the weekend they are on from the time i wake to the time i go to bed (12-15 hrs) lol i only have 1 tank that bearly gets turn on and it sits close to a window which has an light post outside. so the light really not needed most of the time

On timers from 5pm - 9pm for me.

of course i run white gravel....and that + crap load of light = mess

Planted tanks: 10 hrs (11am - 9 pm) I will up the light period more as the tank becomes established.

CA/SA tank: 10-12 hrs of low lighting

No algae problems whatsoever in any tank.

I turn on half the tank in the morning at 730 when I leave for work. When I get home at 630, I turn on the other side, then when I go to bed around midnite I turn them both off. I have weak lighting per gallon so I try to make up for it with longevity.

I dont use my lights much, unless i plan to show off the tank at night. they all get direct sunlight.
