how long fish keeping

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
19 years and I'm still learning. Started off with a 20 gal metal framed tank, sponge filter, bubbling pirate ship and red belly pirahnas. I've still never had a tank over 75 gallons unfortunately.

My oh my how things have changed over the years. You new kids don't even want to know how we cleaned tanks.

8 years now and this has been one of my top go to places for info. My wife and I joined a couple of fish clubs and have learned a lot from everyone we have met. In fact one of the best has been a well respected member here Thank You for your help over the years R.D.

17 years now but on and off. had a ten gallon as a kid, a 29 later on with small tropical fish. a 55 when i was in college that i kept oscars and cichlids in. got a 75 for cichlids 6 months back and now have a 260 acrylic that is nearly ready for my fish to move into. just getting started though haha.

My first tank, a goldfish bowl and was a surprise gift from a neighbor in the 3rd grade. I cant actually remember what happened to him but I dont think it ended well and yes, have learned from some mistakes over the years. I would say im hooked for life.

Im getting to age where I get alot of satisfaction in seeing the younger generation seeing tanks for the first time and watching their eyes light up. I myself can barely remember that feeling but its there.

That is a good thing to see a youngsters eyes light up. As well as being able to get a new generation into the hobby. By younger I mean 30 and under all the way to say 6 and younger. Without them our hobby will fade away.

I was also born into fishkeeping. I started taking care of my mother's tank(s) at 8, got my first tank at 12, and I'm 19 now. So either 19,11, or 7 years, depending on how you count.

coming up on a year for me... holy god what a year. multi tank syndrome is real. 46, 2 40 breeders, a 125, and about to add 2 120 gallon tanks. I love this hobby.
