i started in march of this year...lol :D but ive had other fish as a kid but never really got into them.
And look at all you know all ready... amazing how joining this forum can entertain and teach you at the same time.It did for me..!

I started keeping fish when I was 15, got my temps at 16 and chilled until I was 18. I kept a 29 gallon the whole time though. Then when we moved I got like 5 tanks lol. Five years from after I started I have 6 tanks, and like every fish/frog I have.

Only about two years, and we're up to roughly 1600 gallons, not including random tanks that hold plants or feeder fish. Wow! And what do I know? The basics... plus, I know how to keep fish I keep. I'm getting really good at Characin behavior, feeding, housing, etc., but I'm sure I'll never know anywhere close to it all. My husband knows more about the mechanical stuff, plumbing tanks, etc... but then, he does work in a nuclear power plant, and they move water a lot. I'm not so good on that part... I LOOK at the fish. Some people forget that part. Really look at your fish! That would be, I guess, what I've learned. You can tell so much by a fish's behavior and appearance.

My first pet was a fish (betta) when I was less than 2 years old. When I was in kindergarten, my parents got me a goldfish tank (about 6 gallons-big red acrylic crayola crayon) that I cared for mostly by myself. At 8, I bought my first 10 gallon for myself. Then around 10 or 11, I got a 29. In high school, I got a 55, then a 75, and yesterday I set up my new 150.

So, since I bought my own tank, about 13 years

i had my first fish tank when i was 5 and now im 16, 17 next year so i would say that i am a bit of an expert at some sort but i started my first marine tank 2 years ago so im still a sophmore at saltwater keeping

i totally agree with you... it actually amazes me that fish action tells me everything... they do not need to talk... so many people lack actually learning to read all their signs... and for me thats the best part.. you really get to know all your fish
