I've only been in this hobby for 46 years so, I'll never know all I need to know. And, while I've had success with certain species, I don't consider myself an "expert" by any means. Hence, my fishkeeping IQ is around Gump level.

Well said.... I couldn't put it any better than Oddball just did....!

i feel like a newbie after reading this thread.

anyway i've been keeping fish proper for 10 years now and by proper i mean looking after/owning them fully all by my lonesome.
we did have fish in our house when i lived at home with my parents a very long time ago but i never really had that much to do with them apart from feed them.
as for fish keeping IQ i qualify at pleb level.
welcome Dixon to MFK... pleased to meet you... :D:D

Just restarted my passion for fish. Had some mean oscars for a couple years. College got in the way. I know that I have small knowledge. I now enjoy my small community. I have a vampire pleco, Couple Zebra Danios, Few Tertas Both Glo. Im really into Lighting.. Probably cuz thats what I do for a living. I have made some Water Proof RGB LED's. They are completly programmable. I'd say that I have a total of three yrs Exp.

Just over a year, will never learn everything. Always learning.

got "my" first tank on my 8th birthday...and got very serious about the hobby in high school 1998-2001, left briefly and came back to the hobby in 2005

Well I hate to admit this but 35 plus years. Things have sure changed over the years. Equipment and tank size. When I first started it was rare to see a 20 gal. I learn something new all the time. I recently built a diy overflow and sump using the threads from this site. Lots of info here even for an old timer.:D

since i was 5. my IQ - pretty high (i do research a lot).
