How long will they fight?

LOL didn't think they would help. I do have a large male convict, currently busy being a dad. I have no flippin idea what to do. The other day when I had to remove my GT from the tank it ook me 45minutes to catch the little turd coz he kept dodging and hiding amongst rocks and plants. So I'm not doing that this time of night. I might head off to bed and see how things are in the morning. Surely death wont happen overnight. They gotta sleep aswell.

I am also in the Hobart area. A little out of the area actually. :)
Will come back in the morning and let ya's know how things are. Wish me luck.

Not having a laugh at all! They are genuine questions from a learning fish keeper! I was there once also, heck I still am in a lot of cases.
 
Well after a very sleepless night I think I might just put a tank divider in for the time being until I get my bigger tank and they can have a tank of their own. I really just don't wanna risk either of them getting hurt.

LOL I dunno what has happened to me lately, I have gone COMPLETELY fish mad and they have taken over my life. It seems every day the majority of my day is taken up re aranging tanks or making something for tanks or cleaning just for the sake of it. LOL
 
From my experiance with JD's, I've noticed that any red molly's will grab there attention and make the JD's chase them. Could be a better distraction from eachother.
 
if your getting a 8ft tank and your current fish are only 3 inches then i would add some more ca cichlids to spread aggression. thats assuming your getting a 8 foot tank.
