how long will this last with jardini..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm adding a 4" 'golden' jardini that I got off of Ebay to my 250 community soon, which has two 6"/7" Silvers, two Spotted Gar, two large Plecostomus and a white sturgeon.

I hear aggression doesn't start until 8" or so, but good luck to us both! ;)

i'm way pass that.., my jar is 18".. so far so good... good luck to you... my tank is only 210g...

ok guys... its been almost 2 weeks and well my tank is still the same.. except all the fish in it are soooo used to each other... the JARDINI and the rest of the gang are doing great, no deaths or major injury whatsoever..

well, conclusion: i believe there are a lot of other peeps who has placed a jardini in a community setting and SUCCEEDED. it's not really how aggressive the certain individual jardini is but the tank size, the numbers of tankmates, and tankmates' size and temperament.....

Awesome to hear. I agree that it really depends on how you add them. I think if the jardini is first, then there will be an issue. But if the other fish are in there and established first, the jardini will not bother anybody. Glad to hear you have had success.

thanks.. now my biggest problem is how to get an even bigger tank... around 550g... and add my other 3 IT dats, 1 NTT, and a stingray...(sigh)...

its mostly financial issue...

update: took out the jardini.. he's harrassing the orino pbass too much.. i love watching them fight at night though..but pbass is only 13-14".. for awhile the pbass kept the jardini at bay.. the jardini was scared to go near the pbass.. but finally after a couple of weeks.. the orino gave in and the jardini took advantage, no lives lost just preventing too much dominance...

Hah, I thought you were jumping the gun by making a conclusion after only two weeks. Sad to hear it didn't work, but it sounds like you did the right thing separating them.

leave um looks fine, usually it would attack its tank mates half an hour in the tank, but looks like its doing fine

it would have been fine, but the orino is alot smaller and started to lose ground.. so eventually he was gonna get killed... he was actually putting that jardini in a corner for a long while.. but i guess size does matter..
