Food pyramid would not help with either of the fish he is worried about. As far as food, those two will be fine for that short a time. As long as you have good equipment, and keep up on maintanence, there won't be any problems (not accounting power outages, or failures).

Actually, there are food pyramids that are designed for larger fish. I'm sure those fish would eat the food, especially if they are starving.

Food pyramids suck, get your self an automatic fis food feeder for these short times away, I have a hagen one that I use for weekend aways, worksfine just as long as you dont site it above an airstone.

a 12inch aro can go 1 month without food easy

a 7inch thin bar can go 5 weeks without food easy

i know as when i have been getting them to eat diffrtent foods thats how long it took :D

longest i haven't fed my fish was about 5 weeks. And i had 3 channa gachuas all approx 6". I went for away on holiday and stuffed them a week or so before i left. Water changes were done by my house mate and all he had to do was take a couple buckets of water out the tank. I designed a system that filled the tank from a reservoir that containted aged water. Every now and then my house mate would have to fill up the reservoir.

a strong healthy fish that's at least in or past it's teenage years can go for at least a month without food. some species can go on much much longer.

usually, the bigger and more sluggish the fish, the longer they can go without food. I've heard stories of stubborn fish that won't eat prepared foods that went for 2+ months without anything in their stomachs!

I'm going on vacation for 13 days this week and I'm having my dad feed my fish just once halfway through my vacation.

Food pyramids don't suck, dude. Besides, maybe he doesn't want to spend money on an automatic feeder.

my needlefish just went 3 weeks without food before he finally decided he could eat a feeder, now he'll probably get some more feeders then another period of starvation till he'll take prepared food. i know i can never get my nandus nandus off live though.....won't even take earthworms......
