How many bala sharks ina 120 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldn't go with more than 3 for that tank size. And from my experience, as well as everything I've read, balas are actually very hardy, even as juvies. I bought two of them back in August-September of last year, then bought two more a week or two later, and all four of them are still alive and well now, and so far none of them have ever even been sick (and I didn't exactly have the best maintenance habits when I first got them, either).

so ok the pond idea is better for the fish
Well, the more space, the better, but as Darth Scohin said, this applies to all fish. Really, I think your tank would be fine for just three of them. Personally, I don't think balas would be very appealing in a pond, they are much more interesting when viewed from the side rather than the top (if you're looking at them from the top, then you may as well just have a pond full of regular native minnows, imo).

you could do 5 but that is with no tankmates, with tankmates you could go 3, but really a 125 6'x2'x1.5' would do better for them

Imo, 5 would be overstocked once they are all 14"+

im not sure but its about 2' high thats all i know
It's hard to tell without the rest of the dimensions given, but 2' is a little shorter than a standard 150 gallon tank, which means that it should have a slightly bigger footprint, so it may work, but I can't tell you for sure without the other dimensions (or its other dimension, if it has a circular footprint).
