Yep, not sure what the OP's experience level of fishkeeping is but bala sharks are very sensitive to water conditions. If your parameters are out of whack, they are the first ones to go, like a signal to save the other fish in your tank.

Really? Maybe thats why all of a sudden after my boyfriends bala sharks died, everything else died. haha
and then of course, is tank turned green because he didn't empty it.

I wouldn't put any in a 4 ft tank. These fish are very skittish and like the above poster said, will slam into the tank walls as you approach the tank. A 6ft 150 gallon tank would be the min tank that I'd put any in. Even then, they probably will be on the skittish side.

I agree that a 6ft tank is the min. These fish are very active swimmers and like to chase each other around the tank. As already stated, they are skittish and will hit the side of the tank when scared, more so in a smaller tank. Keep at least 3 together. I haven't had any illness problems with mine.

None.. Bala sharks are not good in small tanks. They get too scared and will slam into the sides and the top trying to get away from you when you come near the tank.
Ime, they only do that when they're young (like <5"), although I've never had them in a 4' tank before...
