"why not practice proper fish keeping as well" -- "why not give your fish a haven where they can live prosperously" -- "lower jaws still reach 2ft+ very easily" -- "on top of having 10 other bichirs at about the same size isnt a very good mix"
What u talkin about Willis? So I don't practice proper fish keeping because I don't have some tiny tiny bichirs in a fish haven like you do and I suggest to the OP to get more bichirs? What makes you think I don't practice proper fish keeping? And I would like to know what is proper fish keeping anyway? Did I not get the memo? And i have read this thread, where is anyone ,JUST DOING WHATEVER? You want a fish haven?-- leave them in the wild buddy boy. Oh really? Lower jaws can easily reach 24"s plus?? How many of them tiny tiny bichirs you got reach 2 ft? Just saying.....
I never said you didnt practice proper fish keeping and im sorry if you misinterpreted it that way, i was simply replying to your statement about getting more just because...
How are my bichirs so tiny tiny? I dont think weeksiis or teugelsi bichirs are that small... But i try my best to give them a haven and a properly stocked tank, because they are my pets and I love them. Proper fish keeping to me, which thats all forums really are multiple opinions coming together, is a tank that mimics their natural habitat, is large enough, properly maintained, and not over stocked. I realize others may have conflicting feelings on that but all i was doing is stating my opinion on the matter.
The comment about just doing whatever was made by you... "Don't be afraid to experiment. Think out of the box. You worried about what you gonna do in 2 year?..... You never know..... You might not even be into fish keeping! So get them bichirs..... Do your thing!" Thats what i was replying to on that aspect.
Id rather keep the fish i bought, its not like im a peta member that says fish shouldnt be kept in fish tanks because they cant swim enough, all my morals about fish are is if your going to keep a fish for years dont torture them with bad husbandry, but try your best to give them a good life, surviving isnt living.
I may have exaggerated a bit with the LJ bichirs reaching 24" so quickly but they still reach around 18" very quickly, if im wrong please correct me, but that is still very close to matching the tank dimensions.
I dont see why you have to try and belittle me by saying i have tiny tiny bichirs lol, do you even know what fish i keep? Not like im a guppy keeper, well maybe i am, but they usually get eaten over night.
