How many Cichla in a Heavily filtered 390 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Id say go for a couple mono's, about 3 kels and 3 orino's and a couple azuls.

As far as filtration id use filter socks for mech because you can just wash em and re-use em. Waaaay cheaper than pads. Id agree on the dual 55's or 75's as well. I too like to overfilter and I feel my 55g sump isnt big enough on my 225.

If I was you id run dual 75's. I would have the sump inputs(where it runs into the sump from the overflow), drain into two(atleast), filter socks. the id have a section that flowed from them into a section full of plants to keep nitrates super low. That would then run into the next 55 or 75 that would house a UV and 100+lbs of ceramic media. And a bead filter as well....the one like kendragon is using full of glass. That is my ideal setup. And i love the dims on you new tank. That is perfect for cichla! An aro or 3 may look good as well :)

Thanks so much everyone !

I am so stoked about finally getting into peacock bass , I loved to look at everyones pics and videos ( day dreaming about when it would be a reality for me )
but I knew there was alot for me to learn , I always try to practice restraint and not impulse buy unless its something that I know quite a bit about
at one time I didn't keep solo fish or even species tanks I would throw anything and everything together But I seen what I was doing and knew it had to change

lol I am sorry for cutting that last post short 2 of my kittens was playing and thought it would be fun to unplug the computers power cord and I was lucky to see what they was about to do and hit the enter key :-)

Update after surfing on craigslist I May have found a 110 gallon to use as part of the sump Only asking $75 for it and its already drilled LOL , I am waiting on the person to email me Lets keep our fingers crossed
