Thanks Guys I will continue to switch it up and I'm glad that he (or she) eats pellets. I was only feeding 1 cricket cause I didn't want to over due it but I will try a hand full once or twice a week. I started a cricket farm and worm farm to get clean food and because I plan to add more monsters and would like to cut down the cost of LFS food and or dried & frozen food. Sorry for the confusion I appreciate all the input, I'm sure I'll have more noob questions soon.

how did you start a cricket and worm farm, id like to do that.

I feed about 8-12 crickets for my jardini, but thats because he is a in its growing stage, and I do not feed 8-12 crickets all at once, like 3 during each feeding time, I think you can feed like 5 every day if you like or feed him crickets once a week as a treat. It is good that he stays on pellets.

I'm trying for my first time so I'll keep you updated. I did mine much simpler than this one and feed them carrots and they love fish flake food. You just need two containers (I store mine under tank) and a little bit of soil for them to lay there eggs. I bought @ 30 crickets and only take out the male crickets to feed Aro and leave the females in for a few weeks. Watch video, the females have stingers.

I like this video but on a much smaller scale. I think my container is about 4 sq feet. I started with red wigglers but will probably try a second type of worm also. There is a lot of different opinions on what kind of worm to feed but I figure a worm is a worm and the fish don't get to choose in the wild. Red wigglers multiply really fast and you can get them on ebay. There are a bunch of good and different videos on youtube.

I have two surface feeders in my 450, a 24" black Aro and a 14" RTGG. I feed them 5 dozen large crickets at one time every two to three weeks. I think they split them so about 2.5 dozen each? I get 5 dozen for 5 bucks at my LFS, that’s why I chose that number. My Black Aro is perfect, no drop eye, and great growth and colors. Most of the time I feed it market shrimp with the shell off. Also gets floating Aro sticks, massivor, frozen silversides , and an occasional pinky mouse. Every once in a while I will catch a moth or one of my cats will bring in a small lizard and those go in the tank too J

Nice Tanks Egon! I like to see people building stuff themselves. It almost doesn't exist anymore. I hoping to do some DIY mods soon and will look at your tanks for inspiration and ideas.

My 8" Silver Arowana loves Crickets! I feed him pellets, shrimp, worms, and Crickets. How many should I offer him in 1 given day? I usually feed him a few pellets first and then give him a cricket but he just looks at me like he wants more. Any input would help, Thanks!

I too am from San Francisco.......I just started a growout myself......Feed the aro a varied diet......Get him used to pellets as being the staple everday thing....If you have them, throw in 3-5 crickets everday.......I have been feeding mine mealworms and cocktail shrimp for the past month.....I throw in about 5-8 cocktail shrimp in his belly everyday........

Just an update, I'd put pics but still can't figure out how to if someone wants to help! Any way I've got baby crickets in first container now which is just a plastic shoe box and now have a second container started which is a little bigger and is just a wood container with holes drilled in top. Watch this video below if you want to breed your own its real easy and you can just use whatever you have around house.
