How many discus in a 5400 gallon tank?

As long as I am spending someone else's money, I would put 100 wild heckels, 1000 cardinal tetras, 5 black ghost knifefish, an arrowana or 2, 30 altums, a couple rays... have I gone too far?

I would go with a hundred wildcaught discus, 25 festivums, and a few really big marmorata pike cichlids.

With a tank that big being about to afford to stock it with discus will be the hard part. I would say 50-80 discus and huge school of either rummynose or cardinal tetras. I would do at least 500 if not 1000 of them. Then maybe a few other fish that would not eat the tetras. That would make a pretty awesome display to watch.

Let me know when your ready to stock your tank. I have all the colors your looking for. I would source from one supplier so you don't run into any cross contamination issues.

That doesn't hurt them. It's what's done in the trade to show the customer exactly what they are getting. No funny photo shots that way. I prefer these shots before buying fish.

If you think that is bad, you ought to see the 2 100% water changes/day in Malaysia. The drain is opened, water drains out and the fish are flopping on the bare bottom tank. The fish must like it due to the rapid growth rate and optimal health.

What's cruel is putting fish into little bags, stuffing them in a dark box for 48 hrs. Letting them swim in their waste, boxes being dropped, sat upside down, thrown, left outside on a shipping dock in below freezing weather overnight to freeze.

The bucket shots are pretty mild to the above.
