On another note, i just love the fact that the Wolf Cichlid latin name means "dovelike"

Is there a certain stage/size when a dovii understands how tough they really are?

I had train the dovii to even eat from my hand and not shy at all. Especially if I approach his tank, he will dart to the front of the tank and wait for the food.
I cant imagine how outgoing it will become once it hits 12" and bigger.
I say, remove all the decors but just the gravel. Placing the tank in a high traffic area will be your best bet also. And it wont be for long before he will be outgoing.![]()
