Wow. I hadn't really thought about it until I saw this thread. We've lost one of our gold dojo loaches to a polypterus palmas. The polypterus palmas when I removed her from that tank to (try) to allow the dojo to heal. We've also lost nine tiger barbs, one at a time to our african brown knifefish. I had that particular dojo, Frick for about three years; it was very sad. I had just turned on the light in the tank for the day and was getting ready to sit down and say good morning to the guys when I saw Polly running madly about the bottom with Frick in her mouth, waving like a flag. I managed to get him away from Polly and removed Polly to a holding tank. Later in the day, I placed my hand in the tank to restore the plants that were disturbed - Frick swam over to my hand and lay in my palm. That was a little tough and still kind of chokes me up to think about. I believe that many people who don't keep fish don't really understand that they're not mindless amusements; each really does have it's own little personality and they really do seem to develop a sort of bond with us.
