How many here have eaten their red tailcat or another fish?

Can't tell if troll or really stupid.

A) It's not healthy. Fish foods don't have to be FDA approved, neither do any other things used on an aquarium. Chances are, you might accidentally get some weird disease previously unknown to man :P. (Or you might already have a prion disease, based on this thread)
B) It makes zero financial sense.
C) It's just stupid, why would you wanna do it?

lol maybe i am sick. cant argue with that haha

B. fishkeeping makes zero financial sence if you put it that way. and an $5 rtc turning in a meal for 6 people. not bad.

C. i love rtc esp when they are young. because they grow so darn big who really has a place to keep them?? my 300 gets small quick and thats just cruel keeping in a small tank like that. hes already here in the trans shipper and ill probebly treat him much better then john doe at what ever lfs he ends up. so i have two option,s, 1. dont get a rtc witch sucks! and the lil guy probebly will have a crappy life in a 55gal somewhere or 2. get one, enjoy him for along time,(lots of room, clean water, best foods) eat him and repeat.

B) Not when you count in the cost of food to raise that $5 RTC into a meal for 6 people - much cheaper to just buy pangasius fillets at the super market

C) NEXT LEVEL, DUDE!

Like many ****ty practices that some members here glorify, I hope this doesn't become a staple.

So my,point isnt to stir things up(but i don't mind that at all, cause thinking through things is good) but kinda surprised that not many here have eaten rtc.,where they are native they are a staple food source. any one had rtc and care to share? how about Oscar? i hate then as an aquarium fish but they do look meaty. same with pacus

I'll just put this here......

best. Simpsons. ever.

I don't eat fish so it's never even occurred to me, but if you eat meat then you can't judge. It's all flesh whether you've named it or not. Would I eat any animal that I considered a pet? absolutely not, but I wouldn't judge someone who did... I would be concerned about the health aspects of it though.

If it was the zombie apocalypse and eating my fish was for survival purposes maybe then, but I can't think of any other time that I would eat my own pet fish. I suppose it might be different if I bought a live fish specifically for food, and stored it live in a tank for a later meal, but even then I couldn't see myself killing it. I had a bluegill that needed to be euthanized and I had to have my friend do it for me because I was having too hard of a time with it

dang man,.that's to funny. the awkward moment when you decide to spit the remaining half out or swallow haha
