Thanks snakeguy. What snakes do you keep? Are you in SHHS?

I keep a pair of eyelash vipers and a pair of monocled cobras and yes, I am a member of the SHHS but was much more active a long time ago, I rarely post on it anymore but still cruise through the classifieds and experts forum.

Let me re-phrase what I said. I would keep some hots. I don't think I'd keep any taipans, cobras (sorry snakeguy), or mambas.. But I'd definatly keep some hots, maybe a copperhead or something.

I will have to somehow disagree with you V, if you have children around or even another adult person in the house, leaving a loaded gun on the top of the table is just as dangerous as a roaming venomous snake, both dont belong in such a unconfined situation and both in a moment of sher stupidity can severely injure a person or even worse. However I have to agree that guns wont try to go away from their confinement:grinno: In that matter, thats what I dont like about elapids, all the elusiveness of a rat snake but with a deadly arsenal.

Coura I'm comparing an inanimate object that requires YOU to make it function as opposed to one that you have absolutely no control over. Sorry but the snake will always win.

But guns cause more deaths per-year then venomous snakes. But I understand what your saying, VF, that a snake can function on it's own and climb out of the tank and bite you.

At least you only go to the hospital to get stiches, not antivenom. Caimans are very cool but in terms of cros my fav are chinese aligators
true!!
and i find that alot of the really sweet exotic crocs are only for sale in florida. it sucks!!! lucky b***terds

I voted for the second option, but I don't agree with the "insane" part, it isn't insane as long as you have the maturity/experience to handle it.

Im not saying diferent, its just that in some circunstances they are pretty matched, plus I wouldnt get no gun, I would get something like a taser, much cooler, oh and a pack of rotweillers:D

I know there are guys in spain that already have chinese gators, as there is a farm of thouse in china breeding and selling them, plus using the profits to help these crocs making a come back in the field (for thouse ho dont know chinese gators are amoung the most endangered crocs in the wild). Any one ho says keeping these animals in captivity doesant do anything to save them in the wild is LYING:naughty:

Hell if you want to go that way junk food, house quemicals, cigarretes and dogs are estatiscaly more dangerous then any hot reptile. Its really all about safety, experience and good old comon sence. I can imagen a facility with contention measures so good that it would take like someone with a bomb to bust some snakes out, of course not all people are willing to go to such measures;)
