How many layoffs!?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I put in for a transfer, got it.2 months latter 814 layoffs & they announced that facilitie was picking up & moving out of state.Still not safe but better off. This town is going down the tubes w/ a quickness. The writing had been on the walls for a while.

Obama promised change, we may need it soon because the dollars are running out.

I work for Publix Supermarkets and we were just on Fortune's website for having never laid anyone off in our 60 or so years of existance. I may not make a ton of money, but that kind of job security is pretty valuable.

We are at the point that it's almost better if you're single to not have a job where I work. the people that got the last layoff just started getting there unemployment checks and they are sitting at home making $50 less a week then I am. and I pay almost $50 a week to drive to work.

and the more time that passes before I get layed off the less money I'll get. It's messed up b/c unemployment goes off what you made the last quarter. and for us 3 months ago we still had a good amount of OT now we are working 32 hour weeks. so if I don't get layed off before march I will make less money on unemployment then the people who got layed off first.

It's messed up I will get punished for lossing my job last. b/c I stuck with it and didn't take a layoff. I'll get less money then those who did and had less time at my factory. Now tell me that's not messed up.

Wife was the manager of a company that was doing a multi million dollar shipment deal with the Russian version of Paris Hilton, just before the recession was announced they pulled out - filed for bankruptcy, and left her company with 2 million dollars worth of crap clothes.

She's since quit, and the owner of the company has had to open up under new company names 3 times since then to avoid losing his business.

It's people that do the above, work their ways around the system in order to stay afloat that are ruining the economy.

As of right now the only jobs available in town are menial, pizza hut assistant manager, desk clerk ect.

Never thought I'd actually feel lucky to be a disabled veteran receiving government funding for my school until all of this hit the fan. What a mess it's become.

Human Resources from head office stopped by today, for the first time ever.
I bet I can guess what topics were discussed in those closed door meetings.

i work for the government-at a VA hospital. one good thing is the government will never lay off ppl-they just put a hiring freeze on.

but i feel like everyone around me is being laid off, or hours are cut back! my husband works as a computer geek for a company that makes Honda Parts-they are cutting back to 30 hours, laying off all temps and he may have to work the floor-i said whatever it takes as long as he doesnt get laid off.. he thinks that too-he doesnt care if they train him to do parts.

his company just laid off 100 ppl -they only employ 600. those ppl will be laid off for 3 months-brought back on and if needed another 100 will be laid off for 3 months.. they still have health coverage..

his company is doing the right thing i feel-only 3 months off-get unemployment.. and you are guaranteed back on at the end of the 3 months..

its scary-we are trying to put back every penny we can-and have stopped remodeling our basement to save money..
