How many people are having problems with Prime?

the thing to remember too is that in reality, a normal dose of prime is an 'overdose' since they want you to dose for the full volume of the tank rather than just the volume of chlorinated water that you are adding

(which makes no sense other than to get you to use more prime so you buy it faster) but still..

so given that everyone is basically dosing more than they need to begin with and there are no problems, to me it makes it even more unlikely that prime is the culprit here..

This is only if you add the Prime directly to the tank. They say if you add to the water before you put it in the tank, just measure for that. I've been adding directly to the tanks, just for the amount of water I have taken out for a couple months now using Prime, and it's worked fine for me. I'm happy I switched from Amquel.

no issues with me :)

if you are on municipal water, i doubt its the problem. there are standards that have to be upheld for free chlorine residuals, pH levels, faecal coliform group bacterial counts (zero of course lol) etc.

if your water is safe to drink, it is fine for your fish (other than the chlorine residual, which prime should easily reduce)

often as fishkeepers we look to place blame on our municipal tap water when we can't figure out what caused the problems with our fish.

in reality, in north america at least, that is almost never the problem..

Shrug, I bought "pond start" from home depot. same ingredients and bottle as stress coat, literally the same bottle with different label. was only 6$ to treat 1900 gallons....doesnt say it removes ammonia like stress coat...but since i dont have any ammonia I dont care.

I trust the experience & advice from my fellow mfk members.
I will give prime another shot here in about a month to make sure I get a different batch.

It is quite possible that someone was having a bad day & mixed it wrong.
Could have been someones 1st day & sent out sub par product, who knows.
These things happen everyday.

If you folks say it's good stuff I trust you.
