  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yup some of your fish will definitely need a bigger tank

I have a tanks up to 300g and I was still small for pacu to be totally comfotable

You need a pond for your pacu and atleast 225 gallons for the arowana

You too.....

would you say that about a dog or cat "yeah do what you want cram em into a little crate i don't care as long as your feeding them it's not cruel"

it's cruelty to animals no matter what species it is and people should be in jail for it......

OH and i thought i'd mention this IN BEFORE THE LOCK:lock:

I never said I agree with what he's doing in his post in fact I agree that it is animal cruelty, however you will get no where beating a dead horse, so I don't know why you continue down the same path every time. I'm sure you have noticed that when you take such a hostile path zander that their responses are very similar... and why is that... well because as humans when we are attacked we feel a natural response of becoming defensive and attacking back.

I was hoping to reach this person and hopfully they would change for the better, it is very easy to get on here and flame people for their misconcemptions and strange ideas... trust me I know... I've done it and I didn't like what I was doing. I try my best not to judge people, but on the internet it is so easy. So, I decided to try to give out positive advice instead of just flaming (who knows it may work out)

let me be nice about this if i can.....

if you want to see how big a pacu really gets, i live no more than 30 mins form brooklyn, come see just how large a pacu thats 22" and still growing really is. and, he's only just over 2 years old.

be smart, trade/sell almost all those fish, otherwise within a couple months every fish will either be dead, or you will have all fish, and literally no water. in which case, they will be dead anyways.......so hopefully you see where this road is going to lead you.

talk about overstock when i first started i had a 10 gallon with a buttikoferi, channel catfish, oscar, green terror, blood jewel cichlid, kribenesis, pleco, black shark and like 3 africans and they all survived for like 5 months until I got my bigger tanks.

:banhim:
lol. this tank surely takes the cake .!

I honestly thought this was a joke reading this... but it's not so funny now

yeah they usualy have one of 2 responses they either smarten up and take your adivce or get overly defensive and i find they do either of those no matter which way you tell them so i take the way that presents the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I try to make my responses as emotionaly-void as possible emotions just get in the way in an arguement such as this one. i am not angry with him i could frankly care less they are not my fish to worry about i wanted to make sure he had all the fatcs presented to him so he can make an educated descision.

my response wasen't hostile either.... i merely tried to present all the facts to him and the potential sizes of some of these fish. nowhere in my post was i flaming him. Believe me sinking to their level is even less effective than what i did.

It's not beating a dead horse it' more like whipping one that's going down the wrong path, you'd never get him to turn around by just asking nicely.

zander, I'm not sure if you have read all of the JDM discussion threads lately?

people have been defending JDM and crazy overstocked tanks like crazy lately and now it seems like most of the people who are against JDM and tanks like the OP has have given up trying to defend themselves and are resorting to the old classic, "its your tank do what you want"

and it almost seems like the OP was just trying to cause trouble, 5 minutes of research would have answered pretty much all of his questions? Its like he was just hoping someone would tell him that they have a tank like that and it is doing good.

and yea, to the OP, pretty much all of your fish are going to outgrow that tank shortly.

some of the views presented on that thread were disgusting(i must have missed it before i just had to look it up now). Believe me MFK is far from the best online fish forum anymore if that many people have sick views like that (EVEN MODERATORS!) they need to GTFO of this hobby.

(i am by no means directing this next paragraph at anyone in particular)
if you will sell out your views because other people disagree with you, you need to do rot in a hole somewhere cause the world dosen't need you anymore.

selling out your beliefs to fit in with the rest of the mainstream reminds me of a certain band..... *COUGHMETALLICACOUGH* damn sell outs......

if MFK no longer has educated views on fishkeeping i don't want to come back here ever again......

ahhh, its like a breath of fresh air.

i agree with you 100%

some of the posts about those JDM tanks were very disheartening to me and how I view the hobby.
