I have 40 tanks close to 2000g of water and I enjoy the waterchanges.I can do waterchanges on the 36 tanks in my fishroom in about 5 hours, faster if my water heater could keep up.Its as relaxing for me as meditating is for some people, helps me clear my mind.
If you dont dig the maintenance multiple tanks is not for you.For me its not a chore its time spent on my hobby.Dont think of it as work, its play time.:)

That’s how I feel when im doing it but I only have 11 tanks to worry about.

TOO MANY TANKS??! I've never considered that as ever being voiced as a problem around here. I have my job, 2 houses, a family, my boat, and house pets to take care of. Yet, I still find plenty of time to tend to 125 aquariums in my hatchery next door.

BTW, a huge help is that my wife and son also enjoy working on the tanks. Although it's hard sometimes to steer my wife away from the tanks where spawning or fry-rearing is occurring.

I enjoy the hobby of tinkering with tanks almost as much asd I do the hobby of having fish...

I consider "tinkering with tanks" not only the water changes and so forth... but finding ways to make it easier or at least more practical... as well as learning about hte science behind filtration... as well as learning about how additives really work... as well as... every aspect with the exception of moving all of my tanks when I move...

Find ways to keep it fun.

I must admit, being forced to spend an hour a day feeding my fish would not be acceptible for me. Some days I'm happy to spend hours and hours playing with them... but sometimes I have several days in a row where it's all I can do to throw a handful of pellets in each tank per day...

3/4ID hose makes water changes go a LOT faster.. a $25-50 extra pump is worth its weight in gold..
the best investment you can ever make when it comes to fishkeeping is direct temp controled water source.. either a splitter for the shower or a sink..

a weeks worth of food prep is also a good idea.. fish/shrimp/bloodworms/ect can all be put in ziplock bags and frozen then broken apart with a hammer

atm
100-75-60-60-55-30-25 water changes for all the tank tank under 2 hours... food prep and feeding takes less than 10 minutes..

I used to have 5 tanks running and it was a pain. I eventually got down to 2 tanks and it's much better. I recently set up another one for a hospital tank...hopefully, I won't have that up for long.

I feel better. I just consolidated a bit and am down to 17 tanks. But this is how I feel about water changes, too. Very relaxing. It seems to be relevent to how much responsibility you're used to in your life. Young people who've never had anyone but themselves to worry about seem to be the ones who see it as "work".

4 75s
1 125
1 10 - fry growout
1 29 - fry growout

my two growout tanks get WC twice a week.. all the others get every weekend.. i also go to school full time and had a very demanding time consuming girlfriend... now i work 30 hours a week to top on that.. i always find time to maintain my tanks and it never seems like a chore..
