How many times you do a w/ c in one month

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do 75% out of my main tank every other day and 10% out of my sump.

Actually its bad to do it this much... And yes its overkill... Your killing all your beneficial bacteria if you know about keeping fish healthy... And i do 35% twice a week... On my 300gal

BB is not contained within the water, it is on the surfaces of the aquarium, therefore w/c's do not kill the BB.

50-70% a week for me, so 4 w/c's. Occasionally I will do more, however once a week is minimum.

Water has very little bb if any, bio media is responsible for containing the colonies of bacteria, the only way frequent wc can harm the fish is if the water is a different temp, ph, etc. If you use the same water source, match temp and properly dechlor it should be fine, may cause a tad bit of stress, but nothing compared to high n03 or ammonia.

My rhom grow out used to get 50% every other day to clean out uneaten food and keep params perfect, it helped a lot and no negative effect, just great growth!

Without bio media, bb will cling to surfaces, substrate, filter material etc. Bio is your friend
