I try and feed the smaller adolescents 1-2 times a day, the adult fish I feed once a day, and I usually skip feeding one day of the week, usually the day after the water changes. I keep mostly central american cichlids, with a couple of south americans, and one tank with tanganyika cyps, shellies, and comps. I also have a few plecos. I always try to watch at feeding time.
On my 45 gallon growout I feed them once a day pieces of raw shrimp, bloodworms, krill and mysis shrimp. On my 225g I feed once a day of hikari pellets and shrimp. On my 450g I feed every other day or 3 times a week of full raw shrimp, full lake smelts and hikari pellets.
I do! With the exception of my gars & african cichlids. I kind of feel guilty watching the gars eat, but damn is it cool to watch! The african cichlids are rediculus. I would need a steam shovel to dump enough food into the tank to go over the "1 minute" food rule with these ***hogs!
