how much can I sell festae fry for??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i recently bought some fry from two wc parents. the parents are amazing. i paid 5 dollars each and they are around .5 inches in size at the biggest

Ya see I live in denver co. And it was very hard for me to find some. The lfs store where I bought them at is called aquaimports in boulder. And they told me they were wild caught. And they werw selling them as wild caught festae. If I was to sell the fry I think a fair price would be 10$ each or 7.50$ for 6 or more. Im not trying to make a lot just a little. And I know that if I was gonna sell to the lfs it wouldn't be for much butyou never know how much you can get unless you bargen. I thank all of you for ur opinions and I hope things work out. Now im new to this mfk but is everyone that posts a thread are they from Colorado or is it around the world.

Just because somebody is "el-cheapo" doesn't mean you need to match, or beat, that price. Also, don't forget that online vendors have to charge for shipping, also.
Enjoy breeding them, and price them at normal market value.

I just sold 300 1.5-2" fry yesterday! I have about 1,000 left. I rarely deal with individuals, just a pain in my rear actually. Just sell direct to your local wholesaler! My 2 cents! I do sell a few here and there to my MFK buddies!

What u mean sell to ur local wholesaler? And im not going cheap I just thought that was a good price. Ive never sold fry before. So any advice on what u would do if u were me would help. And flatfishleo how much do u sell yours for

Price depends on quality, market supply and demand. When supply is low and demand is high they can go for $15-$20/inch. When its the opposite they can go for $8-$10/inch. In some areas, they can be found for $2-$5/inch. It really varies a lot. Most LFS's are selling them between $12.99-$15.99/inch. If you sell to resellers, you'd need to breed in volume like "Sir" Leo.:grinyes:
You'd have to be willing expand your market and ship to make anything worthwhile, but with supply being high ATM in most areas you'll be competing with other suppliers who may have been at it longer and have they region locked up. Just some food for thought.

Ya I understand that. See I live in colorado and it took a long time to find some festae. So idk if I was just hard for me or theres not much out here.

The online vendor I stated in my reply is local here in Colorado, where the OP is located. No shipping charges to pick up fish from them. They have a very good rep, if people have a choice of the same fish from them or someone selling unknown quality on CL or MFK marketplace, likely the vendor with the good rep will get the sales. So it would be beneficial to undercut their 9.99 for 1.5" price.
