How much do 4 x 8 sheets of 1/2" cast acrylic sheets cost?

Great deal by my book. New sheets from vendors run from $350 to $550, cast, 1/2", 4x8.

The warped sheet will give you problems at assembly, as stated above, which can be overcome if you are experienced and resourceful and the tank doesn't need to look perfect, just be functional.

I have had 16 sheets of warped acrylic 3/4", 4x4, under a ton of bricks for the last several months to see if they would straighten. Haven't checked yet.

1/2" was used for my friend's 480 gal 8x4x2, professionally made. It will surely hold water but will bow a LOT, so don't be surprised. It may lead to eventual crazing sooner or later.

I'd probably say they distort the view a little for my taste. Maybe my expectations are low. I have seen a 7,000 gal round pool at PredatoryFins recently with round polycarbonate windows and was surprised how well I could still see the fish, how they were not objectionably distorted.

Nice find! I did not think it was that cheap! I’m gonna look locally to see if I can find any,

Good luck on the build!

If it was my local deal, I'd be on it like stink on a monkey. I scavenge all my acrylic off Craigslist.

Well I decided my top price was $850 and that is all I took with me. I ended up with 6 sheets of 4' x 8' x 1/2" acrylic for $700.

Now I have to build an aquarium!

This is the build thread for the stand for the 180g I picked up about a year ago. monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/180g-attempted-low-easy-maintenance-peninsula-dirt-bottom-planted-tank-build.714316/page-3

This is the 180 I am building the stand for (Pictures at post #6): https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/...cyrlic-tanks-water-level.703423/#post-7929530

The 180 is old, crazed, but nice and clear after many, many hours of polishing. I built the stand for the 6' x 24" x 24" 180g. Now I am kind of perplexed at what size aquarium to build with this new acrylic? I could build a much nicer 180g. I could build a 30" tall x 24" wide x 6' tank and it would fit on my stand.... I had a 110g tall tank which was 30" tall and maintenance was a pain in the rear trying to reach the bottom. Or I could build a new stand for 24" (or 30") tall x 30" wide x 6' long tank.

I think I need to get the current 180g up and running then worry about building a new tank.... if I don't I will never have a big tank up and running.
