How much do you feed your ray?

I think you are thinking of pond keeping fish keepers. Water does not go green in a home aquarium, only the gales unless in very bright sunlight. Clarifiers do very little for clarity in the home aquarium.

Having said that, anyone buying a CLARIFIER probably buys it for an assumed clarity....they should be called green water clearers as that is what they are designed to do.

Those who buy a STRERALISER buy them for bacteria control.

I am not aware of any product sold for home aquaria that is sold to clear water or marketed as a UV clarifier all uvs that I am aware of for aquaria are STERALISERS but I have not been in the trade for some time. I imagine some marine keepers use clarifiers to control free swimming algae.

The majority of uv correctly understood and used in freshwater aquaria (remember we are in a stingray forum for freshwater species) are used for bacteria control, very few would be for clarity of water if understood.

I use two in series for maximum exposure time and they run from the sump on a small dedicated pump which returns to the start of the sump on a slow feed, this way there is a good deal of re-circa within the sump...all of this is for bacteria control.

I have seen lots of tanks green/brown with algae not exposed to sunlight.. I have a 50 gallon tank which gets fed once every 2 days.. the water itself is brown from algae.. it's in my basement, and is not exposed to sunlight.. so yes, it does happen..

But, since nothing I say I accurate by your means, I am done. I am not going to argue with you any longer. You're right, I'm wrong. got it?

I think someone wants to be a Chief, but is still at a lower Indian level of learning.

Sometimes, the Indians that make it to Chief the fastest are the ones who close their mouths and listen, instead of opening their mouth and hoping the right answer comes out.

I'm trying to say this in a nice way. I want everyone to learn and better themselves, including me.

Back to the topic: All of my fish are currently being fed daily but will soon be back to "every other day" feedings.

I am truly sorry that you feel that way. I suspect that the brown water is not algae, most likely Tanin or other compound from fish waste, high nitrate can cause that too some large water changes and some carbon would answer that I suppose....if not then you obviously need a clarifier lol.... I may be wrong though. I have never seen brown or green water unless in very bright sunlight causing green water.

I certainly did not mean to beat you up, I just find uv to be very mis understood.

Everything has been checked, and it's definitely algae. It is in a few of my other tanks, due to the high humidity in my basement.

High humidity, is it past 100% saturation....like water? Odd that this would cause algae...oh well I cannot find any answers to that...I hope we can be friends on here.

Humidity is at 75%, sometimes lower.. we have an industrial dehumidifier running down there. But I think it's mostly the temps caused by the humidity that causes it.

Maybe I'll start a thread about it.

I too am curious about how the humidity correlates to the algae?

I'm not trying to be a smart-alec, but how does posting a thread about it answer the question? You stated that the tanks have algae because of high humidity as if it were fact, or at least that's how I interpreted it.

Can I learn how you came upon this fact?
