how much do you guys TIP your waiter?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I tip around 15% at most restaurants. If it is a really expensive place I tend to tip a little less, if it is really economical I tip a little more. If, for example, I go out to lunch and spend $10 I will leave $2-$3 tip. However, if I go out with the wife for a $150 dinner I will probably tip $20. It's not like the waiter at the fancy restaurant worked 10x harder....

at least 20%

I've worked jobs in my younger years were you live off tips (bartending, pizza delivery, waiting tables) and it sucks. Lousy tippers are jerks...

i some waiters dont deserve to get tip i had waiters roll theres eyes at me or giving me there attitude even when you were a waiter or pizza delivery and you had a bad day or you were mad you just had to suck it in rite but some take it out on the customers

It's not about cheapos if the waiters arent people friendly then that's not the job for them no one wants to see a waiter with attitude, everybody always comes back because of the service not only the food, your food could be the best but if your atittude is negative forget it,anytime I go to this sushi bar with my wifey I always get the same waiter,he remembers our names, our drinks, our food, without us telling him now he gets $20.00 anytime we go,he is a perfect example of what people should hire for their restaurants, always clean cut, good sense of humor goes beyond to satisfy the customer and remembers your name, all I'm saying is bad waiters PLS LEAVE YOUR DRAMA AT HOME DON'T BRING IT WITH YOU TO WORK!!!!!

Thats so true, but as all my friends who work in the industry will say is; it works both ways...Some customers automatically use really condescending tones the minute they walk through the door thinking that the servers etc are there to wait on them hand and foot literally...

$150 for dinner! We have some well paid people on MFK. I think our highest bill ever to date is $60 for both of us. $150 is groceries for 3 weeks for us, then again if your making bank...gotta spend it somewhere.

n wat if he his doing a bas job?

Then they get less. My biggest pet peeve is having our drinks refilled. Were talking about your basic coke or mountain dew. If I'm paying $2.59 a drink I want at least 3 refills. Or you can take that cost off my bill.

OH I totally agree...and there are instances for with holding tips but most of the time for me it's a non-issue of service...I think it is relative where you live. I'm from western PA and from fairly small communities. Usually everyone is friendly and helpful...I've been to NYC and had TERRIBLE service for sure. I wasn't attacking your post. Sorry if it came off that way.

Just asking. What should a restaraunt do if they get a hair in your food? Its bad enough it happens before you start eating, but after you ate half or 3/4ths of your food. Should you get it for free? I mean if I saw a hair I wouldn't eat it. Also not going to wait another 30 minutes for food. I might get an appetizer if it can be made quick. I'm not paying for that meal though.

How about the new "under 21" crowd that TEXTS all the time!!! That kinda erks me...I'm anal about when I finish my plate I want my check immediately...I'm weird. My wife beats me up over it. "always in a hurry!"...but beside that, I do try and give people the benefit of the doubt in most cases and tip well. We should discuss bar etiquette. At the local joints I usually tip a buck a beer (beers aren't more than 2.5-3 bucks) but most of the time when I'm out on the road for work I usually tip UPFRONT, that way there is no issue of shift changes, waiting for drinks, etc. I usually just throw a ten down and tell them to keep it, and if I drink more than 25 bucks worth I'll throw another 5 or 10 on it at the end. I've had that happen a lot...when I go out to eat for work on the road it's just me (I'm in sales) and I'm often the guy eating at the bar, alone. Usually at shift change...bartenders get salty if they don't get tipped before they leave...and I NEVER like a non-icey cold corona ready!

I usually double the tax.

Esp. for large groups, the way the tax system is setup, if you don't the waiter could end up paying you to serve you...
