how much do you guys TIP your waiter?

I see where you are coming from, and I apologize for reading that as serious. But, did you read my first post in this thread (post # 23)? In this day and age, without tips, you can't survive on 5 something an hour. And like I said before, I would rather give an extra buck or two than have more people who are burdens of the state.

and that's fine if you see it that way. that's not my problem. people can tip 50% for all i care

but where my problem lies is when i get flamed or called names like ass, or cheap, or ignorant just because i disagree.

i didn't get flamed in this thread but the other thread i did and i've been called worse on other forums about this exact topic

I'm not sure about barbers. All the barbers I've seen are old Italian guys that work 20 hours a day and probably sleep in the chair at night. I know that at the fancy salons, the hairdressers rent the chair and work for themselves. The company doesn't pay them anything.

i've always felt this way about tipping but what really opened my eyes one day was back when going to school i commuted with a buddy and he worked full time, and waited tables at sizzler on the weekends. he would tell me he made over $300 sometimes in like 5-6 hrs

that's $37.5/hr on a 8 hour shift. SIZZLER!

screw 20% tips. i don't go to bars and hardly go out to eat, but when i go out it's usually weekend nights so if they are pulling that kind of cheddar at sizzlers, pshhhhh, you non ass, non cheap, non ignorant tippers can cover the tips for me. on a night like that, i'll tip pretty much based on how many $1 bills i have. if i got $2 as change, sorry, that's all you getting

btw, my wife used to tip graciously when we first got married and i'm proud to say i converted her. she agrees with me totally now

its funny becasuse sometimes she'll be like, "why you tipping so much, she wasn't that good." and i'll feel bad and throw a couple bucks on the table

who on earth made it acceptable to pay under minimum wage and allow tips to make up for it. waiters should be payed by the employers. this goes with all tip jobs. let me spend $1000 on my food and you would expect to see my $100-200 tip.

i dont think so.

15%

i use the android app, Tip n Split

then i usually round up the the whole dollar amount.

lol, if you can spend 1000 on food, then complain about tip you need to be penny pinching in other areas, (here's a hint, dont spend 1000 on a meal)
