pshhh, that tradition ain't leaving for nothing. i'm holding to that one until my daughters are married. then they can change it, lol

if I ever got divorced and remarried, i'm gonna demand my money back from her family first, then i'm going after the ones with baggage. they are the cheapest. even said girl's family just wanna get it over with as quick as possible

Is that kind of what a dowery is?..It sounds almost like buying your wife,and how did they/whoever arrive at those figures?
 
yes I believe that's the term. dowery. well, it's an old tradition that goes back to our native land. they used to use cows and pigs to pay for the wife

I remember my aunt told me she was $400 when she got married here in the states. damn inflation

so yea, if you got sons who meet a nice hmong chic they wanna wife, let em know what's up. one of my sisters married a black guy. dude had to pay up

Lol,I have heard of the cattle being offered in other cultures,I've even heard of arranged marriages where the bride does not even have a say so...My mini me does have a few Hmong friends but I think he is more attracted to Latinas.
 
dude, my old cultures are nuts. you couldn't get away with it here in the states. you can literally kidnap a girl and marry her. one of my aunts got kidnapped. my uncle had like 4 guys with him, they came to the place while my grandparents were out on the farm and they literally caught her and dragged her away. my dad was just a kid at the time and he'd crack up telling us the story. he said there was a trail where they dragged her. you can see the tall grass pulled from their roots by my aunt, lol. well, she married him and they had kids and they both stayed married until they passed. it was meant to be
 
btw, as you can imagine, for my cousins who is the kidnapped aunt's son, when we were kids, he'd always lose the yo mamma and yo daddy jokes. we'd always stump him with, "yo daddy so ugly, he had to kidnap yo mamma to marry her."
