how much do you guys TIP your waiter?

There are non-tippers, bad tippers, generous tippers and “always 20 percent” tippers. But what do you tip the delivery guy? What’s fair for the dude schlepping food to your door so you don’t have to put on real pants? A Reddit user posted a photo of a receipt for an order his buddy recently delivered. The order was 85 pizzas for a total of $1,453, and the person who signed for it left a $10 tip. As commenters have pointed out, the receipt could be fake, or he could have received a negotiated or cash tip and the customer tossed in some extra. If not, then, yeah, we’d say $10 is pretty light, cheapskate

I usually try to tip the Pizza/ Delivery guy $1 per item but a minimum of $3. So if its 5 pizzas he gets 5 bucks, 20 pizzas its $20 and so on.

Interesting.

i had to bump this one for sumo.

hahaha, check this out. i was reading a guide for tipping from a former waitress and this came up

Include a kind word and a smile with every tip and try to clean up after yourself as much as possible. If my kids leave food on the floor or sticky messes on the table, I ask for a dustpan or a wet cloth to return the table to its condition prior to our arrival. You never know if your server will turn out to be your next door neighbor, a single mom, a volunteer firefighter, or your child’s teacher, so treating them with kindness and respect is a required part of every tip.

roflmao, you're now expected to clean up after yourself/kids AND tip?

here's another funny part

Don’t skimp on tips in order to save money! If you can’t afford to tip adequately, choose someplace less expensive or opt for an establishment where you’ll serve yourself.

If your server only brings your drinks, or the food is served buffet-style, it’s appropriate to leave a lesser tip, but 10-15% still applies.

While it’s important to live frugally and pinch pennies when possible, tipping is not an area in which you should be trimming your budget. If you’re going to eat out, an adequate tip is a standard part of the bill.

hahaha, so if you need to save money....go to a buffet but tip anyways? her suggested tip in the article was to round to the nearest 10 and tip 20%. for buffets to save money, you should tip anyways but just tip 5% less? GTFO. i gotta serve myself, clean up after myself and still tip 15%? i've never tipped at a buffet and i rarely see tips left behind. i would say buffet waittress/serves do more physical labor then reg servers though.

The highest I tipped was 10 bucks and that was $130 w/ 6 people. Most of the time I only tip no higher then 5 dollars.

roflmao, made my day eddie, thanks

entitlement this, deserving that, blah blah blah as usual

we should tip because they may be my neighbor? a single mother? a volunteer fire fighter? my child's teacher? they should start tipping the consumer for giving them business.

on top of that, I need to help do their job by cleaning up after myself before giving them extra money to do their job while I already helped made their job easier? yea lady, good luck with that

Oh man the whole article reeked of entitlement but those were the best part!

The first comment from readers though was the entire dialogue from the beginning of reservoir dog!

last two times I went to eat out I tipped nothing.

once at apple bee's and once at ihop. there was a hair in my omlette at ihop. i ate one bite from my omlette on one end and my wife saw the hair on the other end of the omlette. the waitress was very apologetic but I didn't tip anyways. but that wasn't the reason for me not tipping though. I may have if they had given me another omlette on the house for the mistake.

I didn't end up ordering a new omlette because I didn't realize how big their omlettes were so I shared my wife's omlette. I chose not to complain to a manager, just enjoyed what we had and left. I was a nice guy and polite to my server as I always am regardless of what happened

Went out with friends this past weekend and this thread discussion came to mind...We spent the day fishing at the shore and afterward we had dinner at a pizzeria before the drive home. There was nine of us and we ordered basic stuff, three pies with a few baskets of fries and soda. Our bill totaled over one hundred dollars which was expected but I was bothered that the tip for the waitress already included in the bill to the tune of twenty nine dollars..Is it normal for restaurants to auto tip when a large group dines together?

IME, most places have a similar policy on automatically adding the tip in with larger groups.
