Similar to the "How did you get started" thread - I'm curious. How much experience do you have now? I realize that when most of us started we had little to no experience - but how much have you accrued since then??

I am a definite newbie - less than 3 years accumulated exeperience though I'm gobbling up any and all information via forums, internet, etc.

I have a stack of books a computer and my father at the end of a phone and still you learn more! Every article you read adds a bit more knowledge every :swear: up you make adds a bit more it’s a hobby you will never stop learning about. I know a lot more today than I did yesterday.:grinyes:

I have been keeping fish and reptiles for about 11 years. I would agree that I learn something new all the time. I would consider myself an "advanced hobbyist" but I know there is a ton of stuff I still do not know.

I know enough to keep my fish alive and healthy .. most of the time anyway.
Its a learning experience. Still have tons to learn and im enjoying every moment ,specially
when i learn something new.

there are so many fish in this world, i doubt there are many if anyone that knows everything about every fish. i'd been keeping fish for 10 years prior to being on this board, and i've gotta say, the past year ive still learnt so much from this place. its been too good.... lol

exactly. And this is why i just smile at people ( or groups of people ) who beat their chest , loudly proclaiming that they are "experts" . They dont get it .

I have had fish for 9 years now and I dont consider myself an expert in any way. Sure, I know a lot but there is so much more to learn. My friends are always so impressed byt the fact I can pull fish name from who knows where and then info to go along with it, they always tell me Im like a fish expert. At that point Im just like, na, I have just learned a lot about them over the years.

Although I have to say I was getting some funny looks from people at the Shedd yesterday when I kept giving info lol

I've only been into it for 3 or 4 years.......so I still have a LOT to learn

Starting from my first tank that I was totally responsible for, about 20 years.

Found out about 10 years ago, when I had wheels to get me to the "big town's" library, I was doing everything wrong. Funny thing is, it was working for me!

Still find out I'm doing things "wrong" everyday! LOL!

I've had fish for 22 of my 26 years-Anne
