How much growth is left?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Definitely the tank size. He needs more room because he is very active at night. Mine are all over the place in my 300 during the night, very calm during the day. You can get silversides at any lfs and petsmart sells them too.

Thanks kevin for defending my other post. lol I definitely meant 3 foot in captivity. :)

Hes in my 46g. Where can I get silversides? Why does having more swimming room important for growth? I though it was the water quality that determined growth rate.

Tell me you're joking? you're on monster fish keepers! you have to have a big tank to have a big fish, unless you get a pacu. They are active fish and need room to grow.

 why not, the rest of the world does right? Are you planning on upgrading soon?

I wont be upgrading for months to come. And I got the tank before I was part of the site. He has enough room, he's the only fish in there. I'll have to check petsmart. Is there any special way of feeding him them? Thanks again.

my 9" ck is in a 150g and i feel bad for him because I think even that's not enough room. Like derekp said, they are really active as soon as the lights go out. It surprised me how fast they can swim.

Yeah if he is 11inches already, he is definately more than ready for the next level even if he is by himself. Hikari massivore sinking pellets will make him grow a lot faster but you shouldn't be worried bout that right now. He needs a larger tank asap. Don't wanna stunt the poor guy.:y220d:

they do swim fast. in the mornings, when i turn the lights on, they dart faster than my gars lol. silversides or thawed shrimp would work as well. they do get kinda pricey. my 1 tank alone eats 15-20 silversides/prawns a day.

I just went grocery shopping and picked up smelt, cooked shrimp and salmon filets. So far my ck got the smelt in his mouth and spit it back out lol. I know when trying to change foods, I should not feed him for a couple days, but if he tried it and didnt like it, I should give up on the smelt right? Im going to try frozen cooked shrimp tonight.
