How much/often do you feed your rays?

With the quality of food we can offer our rays, feeding 3-4 times a week should be fine. If that is what you want (slower growth).

Rays arent mammels. They spend no energy on heating their bodys, nor as much energy moving around. They simpley dont need to feed every single day to survive, or even thrive.

They grow slow in the wild. And they will grow slowly in the tank if you let them.

i completly agree....

I feed mine sometimes every day sometimes every other day.. They eat a mixture of pellets and smelt/anchovies.

I however feed newly acuired rays or pups every day or even twice a day.

I don't see the point of trying to power feed to grow them so fast. Enjoy them..

The first 3 months 3-6 times a day, 6" and below at least 3 times a day, when they are bigger than this I usually feed twice a day. This doesn't mean you need to powerfeed them each time but I find the rays appear healthier, are less aggresive, and if you have multiple rays in one tank it seems to allow the less aggressive ones a chance to feed.

i agree with you 100%!

i have to feed my big rays twice per day or they will start biting eachother. i feel very bad for my rays when i skip a feeding.

I feed mine once a day, every day, at night about an hour before lights out. They know when feeding time is because they start looking for food right around that time. One of mine just chills all day until feeding, one is pretty active all day long, and the new girl seems about half and half right now. I always feed as much as they can eat at once, which give them bursting size bellies, and they seem to me to be pretty "fat" with thick tails, and appear healthy and happy. If something comes up and I'm too busy to feed I'll skip a day. This only happens 1-2x a month.

1-2 times a day, when smaller/new imports 2-3 times. But I do fast at least one day a week, sometimes two.

I just got my two retics and they're only about 3.5 inch discs, I feed them twice a day and they just mow through it all. Always on the move and acclimating to the tank so I feel it's better to feed them a little more.

Once a day in the evening for my 6 inch male moto. Hes fed a combo of market shrimp, tilapia and sinking massivore.

I would feed any ray under 8 inches atleast 3 times a day, even if its just massivore or something.

Lots of posts here on how often rays are fed but would be interesting to know the volume of food that is fed also .

Per 4inch ray I feed,,,

8am 2 frozen bloodworm cubes
5pm 2 frozen bloodworm cubes
10 pm 2 frozen bloodworm cubes

When I go to feed I siphon out any leftovers from previous feed and pour it into the goldfish tank , goldfish don't mind old food lol . But the ray normally eats the lot , I hope to move to pellets soon

My breeders i feed every other day. When they have pups i feed the pups twice a day. Batgirl gets feed in my 120 once a day because when i feed the other fish in there shes going nuts looking for food.
