Use a tablespoon per 5 gallon plus metafix and crank your heat up to 88 degrees. I speak from experience. GL

Barbel will grow back without doing any of the above mentioned. I also speak from experience.

x2. Clean water is all thats needed. Dumping a bunch of crap into your tank when you don't need it is pretty foolish.

Of course clean water will heal over time but it's like flushing an open wound with water or you can use antiseptics and a band-aid. I guess I'm just the foolish one.

Only if you don't use waterproof band aids.

You compare it to an open wound, which it is not. There is no reason to do what is not necessary they will heal just as quick with just clean water. I mean you wouldn't get stitches for a paper cut would you?

I understand your point but I wouldn't say losing a barbel for an arowana would be equal to a paper cut.

A barbel is a trademark of an aro and you want it to grow back nice and healthy. I suggested the OP my opinion on what I did. I maybe a little more cautious then you but hey to each their own.

Add a little salt to the aros tank, and to the tank that the pacu should be in.

No, you should cover the tank so it don't jump out.
