My 3in oscar takes 10 secs to eat the amount of pellets my 3in comet eats in a min(diff types of pellets xD):confused::confused::confused::confused:

I don't wana overfeed him/her, but I want it to grow too :)

I'm feeding hikari gold baby pellets

Edit:Another question, figured I should just put it in one thread...
What are the chances that one male and one female convict will become breeding pairs? Should I buy a few of each?

put in however much food your oscar will eat in 15 minutes. if any food is left after 15 minutes scoop it out and throw it away. if you are sure they are male or female if you get one of each they should pair up.

15 min:screwy:the oscar will eat the hole can of food in that time

if you want your oscar to grow feed him 2 times a day about 1 min each time. Oscars will eat evreything in 10 sec lmao so feed him abit at a time until about a minite passes.once he gets bigger and older 1 time a day would be enough.
i would feed mine when i have breakfast and when i have supper

almost 100 % SURE although i would buy 1 male with 2 or 3 females and let them pair off on there own

I purchased a 3 inch Oscar maybe about 3 weeks ago. He is about 4 inches already. I feed 3 times a day of hikari bio-gold med pellets. 1 of the feedings is always either bloodworms or brine shrimp. I also been feeding a full diced red worm recently. I give him enough pellets till i can see the beginning of the stomach push out.

And for your cons just buy a male and a larger female. They're easy to breed. I once had a pair spawn in a 5g bucket.

Depending on the size of the oscar is how often to feed it, 1"SL 3-4 times a day, 2-3"SL 2-3 times a day, 5-6" SL 1-2 times a day, adult size some people feed once every 2-3 days (but i gues that depends on what your feeding it and what its housed with). As for convicts, I've never not heard of a f/m not pairing up

:screwy: the oscar is not an idiot, it will eat until it is full, that is how much you should feed it. do you like to sit down at a dinner table eat and get up still hungry cause you only got an appetizer? neither do i. feed the fish what it wants to eat if you want it to thrive. its natural instinct will tell it when it is full.

:screwy:your definitly the first person i know to compare himself to a fish.

first of all 1-2 min is just perfect for an oscar 15 min is WAYY to much

second...... feeding him for 15 min and throwing out all the food will waste alot of food for absolutly no reason.

and third of all....... oscars are very messy eaters and feeding 15 min worth of food is gunna cause a very big problem if u dont have the enough filtration.

if you feed you fish for 15 min good for you but there is no reason for it.in the wild a fish will eat whenever it finds food it wont eat 15 min evreyfeeding

after a couple feedings you shouldnt have to throw anything away, you see how much you feed, and how much you throw away after 15 minutes in the tank and you feed that much less the next time. you should be able to not waste any food. the fish wont eat for 15 minutes constantly. all my oscars are usually full in about 3-4 minutes, and there is alot of competition so in a small tank i bet they could wolf there food down in 1 minute. but that isnt what i said, i said throw food in and in 15 minutes whatever is not eaten throw away. i didnt say throw food in for 15 minutes straight. if you are trying to keep your fish small and stunted then you can go right ahead and only let it have a nibble. i personally like to get my fish grown to there full potential.
