How much variety is enough?

Hello; Some feed fish filets. I have fed salmon and catfish for many years but a caution needs to be mentioned. I have learned on this forum that fresh filets may have issues. It is suggested that only commercially flash frozen filets be used. Apparently our home refrigerators do not get cold enough to kill parasites.
While I cannot report any issues from feeding fresh or home frozen filets over many years this information is worth consideration. I see the sense of it and have stopped feeding bits of the fresh filets I buy for my supper.

Another food I have used for decades is canned peas. I simply squeeze the peas into the water. Many fish take them well. There are also comments on this forum that peas have "no nutritional value" for fish. I do not know from experience. One other note on peas is that some consider them a decent fish laxative. Might be worth an occasional feeding to help keep the plumbing cleared out.

Peas contain phytic acid, tannins, and trypsin inhibitors, which are not something that fish benefit from and which can potentially cause negative health issues when fed in excess.

IMO aquatic based plant matter always trumps terrestrial based plant matter. I posted about this in the past discussion linked to below.

I feed my Trophs a mix of 3 parts Dainichi Veggie deluxe, 1 part NLS thera A that is all the variety they get. Even My lone Yellow Calvus who was raised with Tropheus and ironically sort of behaves like them loves it (Yep he swims with the group and has similar erratic behavior...not Calvus behavior...it is bizarre...I named him Steve Martin cause it is sort of like The Jerk)
