Total system volume around 500 uk gallons for a ray tank and want to do a auto drip system. How much should i be looking at changing per day? I am thinking between 30 and 50 gallons a day.

You don't really wanna do anything over 5% daily. This could have an adverse effect on your bio filtration. This ratio will need to be adjusted according to the stocked capacity of the system.

well. i drip 4 gpm on my 210, if you can afford to heat and treat the water the more you change the better IMO.

you have to remember the water is being diluted so 100 gallons clean in is not 100 dirty water out.

that does not make much sense.

I change 700 liters a day on my 5400 liter system, nitrat at 10, i can digg that? I dont see how people can keep discus if ne0p1aSm33`s info is correct. 100% a week is a good way to go imo. I tap my sump about 400 liters a day, so 400 of the trip is new, and 300 is diluted as keep says .

Drip whatever amount u need to keep your parameters consistant. I try to keep my nitrates under 60

+1 start low and continue going more and more while checking parameters. Once you hit your deisred levels, thats how much you should drip.

Really ? I dont drip but do daily 150 gallon w/c's my total system volume is 500 gl. and have a dozen pothos vines in a piggy backed 45 gl tank. if I would have only changed out 5% daily every fish it the tank would have died soon after they were put in. When I did discus 90% daily w/c's were the norm. using mixed ro and tap. Never once have I had a filter crash from doing w/c's.
You should be checking the No3 level in the tank and adjust your drip - w/c ammount to keep the water peramiters at your desired level. What works when the fish are small will have to be raised .as they grow.
