and he said he'd do 200$ as well as help me separate all the plants into buckets

force his hand he obviously tried to sucker you for the $400, in 2 e-mails you've dropped him $200 - now if you really want it - offer about 80 bucks and see the response. if he wants more, i honestly don't think it's worth it but thats just me. I'd rather see you spend ur 200 bucks on the 75 and get some monsters

Hi Andy

Well, I really do need it gone - there's no room for it where I'm moving to, so it's yours for $200 if you want it. My alternative is to just leave it behind, which I'd hate to do.
I have a number of 5 gallon pails, so we can put the plants in one of them along with some water, better than bagging them. It would probably cost you 200 just for all of the plants if you were to buy them at PetSmart!

And no, you're not wasting my time.

Simon

Ima reply in a few weeks if he doesn't come begging me to buy it :)

edit: 400$ was for this setup AND another smaller tank with a hood and stand.

If the $200 is just for the one tank now, I'd pass on it. $200 for both might be borderline OK if there is really a lack of aquariums in your area, It's your money in the end though. If you feel like it's a good deal, then you're the ultimate judge. I pass on free 55g tanks in my area. hard to get rid of them here cause so many people have them.

He's kidding himself if he thinks those plants would cost $200 at Petsmart. I was just down there pricing plants a few days ago. I know the tank looks heavily planted, but you could accomplish the same look buying new plants from Petsmart for $50 probably. And even that is expensive compared to shopping on aquabid or somewhere else instead.

The majority of those plants are low-med light too, they don't need a 96 Watt fixture on a 35g. Could just get a 2 bulb T-8 shop light at a hardware store and accomplish the same results with a couple cool-white or daylight bulbs.

This is one I'm thinking about in my area: http://reno.craigslist.org/pet/2029650489.html

$450 for an Acrylic 240g +Stand+Canopy+Light (Maybe filters and other stuff, doesn't say). Scratched up a little but scratches can be buffed out. Was posted a few weeks ago for $600, thinking of offering $300 for it to see if they take it. Not sure my wife will let me keep it though. ;)

With this as a comparison, you can see why everyone above is of the opinion that a 35g for $400 or even $200 is a bit much. Usually can find crazy deals down here if you wait for them to show up.

I'm never moving to Canada. We all need to try and save some free tanks and give them to you.

If 10 gallons are going for $150, I need to set up a store front in your area. Where at in Canada? Unless you are talking about the Yukon, that sounds crazy. I have hard people on here from Alaska talking about finding great local deals.

Around here the only way a 10 gallon goes for $150 is if has a $100 and two $20 bills as background

I agree, If I can sell 10g's for 150.00 dollars I will load up a flatbed tonight!

Do you live in the northern Northwest Territories? I think the person selling you the tank is actually a Grizzly bear, don't do it... its a trap.... the bear will eat you.

Seriously though, you know your market better than we do, if you think it is a good deal go for it. It sounds pricey to me.

I don't know... They do get to keep Snakehead. And just about every other tropical species that is restricted in the states. Just need more canadians to get into fish keeping to boost the market up there. :)

the resale market is brutal.

(on a slightly unrelated note I told my mom id buy a laptop before anything else, first...which i still haven't done)
