i know i could ask 200 per fish but theyd never sell. and these fish range from free to 10 bucks then it gets bad. and sadly no they werent on aquabid it was at a lfs that though they could get rich sellin these things that bred like crazy but they were easily overpriced by 10$.anyway 5 bucks a fish is reasonable but 25? no way

i saw them at 2 for 10 here in socal (craigslist).

for breeding adults 8-10$ each
juvies max 6$ each.

they are a flooded market species, they breed like rabbits.you can't give them away around here.Thats the reason i got out of africans, they all breed very easily and then what do you do with the young.I suppose they would be good feeders, hmmmmm never thought of this.

Sorry to hijack, but what about Zebra Obliquidens or Astatotilapia latifasciata?

Here is a pick of the pair (as well as a couple pics of just the male). I have 3 sets of babies from these two that I have in a 20 gallon tank and a tub. Transferring them to my 55 shortly. I also have some Transcriptus fry as well.

well julies are not hard to come by, and I am selling them for 4 bucks each. I also know that the ZO are pretty common for Vics and being that they are vics that can help and hurt. I am not sure on a price, but I am sure if you contact Pharaoh he could help more on these.

I usually just give away my extra fish.

I just moved some fish around this weekend and gave about 40 juvie africans to someone in the local fish club. When he came over to pick them up, he brought me a bag of extra fish he had. We both won that way.

If nothing else, you make someone really happy by giving them fish that are just excess to you. Up here, there's no shops that I know of that will give you credit, so might as well give them to other hobbyists.

Try to find a local club. If you want some money for them, see if they have an auction. Most clubs do, although you may have to wait, and don't expect to get a lot of money. At most club auctions, it's a buyer's market.

I agree with most of your comment. I just want to point out, that at auctions we never know what you will get. Heck last auction we had two guys having a bid war over yellow labs... 30$ for 6... They did this on a lot of africans. These same fish weren't even selling at 1 dollar a bag the auction before. (IE no sells.) You just never know what will happen.

And BTW I think fish will sell fairly well at the ACA convention. But they will drop down in price as the day goes one. SO red tag them if you do want to sell them. (Though that doesn't always work...) It is just a gambel, and well if you can find buyers before auctions it will by far be the safest route. It is just harder to do it that way.

(Note I am emphasizing the ACA auction since it is July 20th, at the Hilton by the airport. Free to put in fish, and in your case, fishkeeper1, likely the best way to sell them.)
