Some pet stores carry them for about $100 (that's the price around here at least). If you can find a local show, or even just a breeder, you should be able to get one cheaper than that. I'm sure there are also places to order them online-I'll let others chime in with those
I know there are some on www.kingsnake.com. They range from like 80-150 and if at all possible try and get one that is captive bred they will by on the higher end of the price range but very much worth it.
Yep at my store they are $99.99 last year at this time it was $79.99. If you are able to go to a reptile swap it will probably be less then the $100 that are at most stores.
thanks guys!!!!! im also wondering if i should get a tortoise or a turtle. and what kind????? im looking for something that is pretty cheep and pretty easy to take care of.
What do you like? And how much room do you have to spare for it? Tortoises seem to generally be wanderers, and need more space than a comparable sized turtle...but an aquatic turtle will probably be a bit more work re: water changes depending on how big you go with filtration.
For torts the Russian will probably be the cheapest, because the tort itself is cheaper than most other species you see and also it's smaller than the other common torts, so it will need less space. For turtles, the cheapest are probably red ear sliders but when you factor in the tank they'll need a common mud or musk turtle will be a lot cheaper because they need less tank space.
