Thank you David.

$150 seems to be around the average for a captive bred pup. You can buy some wild motoros that are less than 6" in diameter for as little as $75.

Just becareful when you are purchasing. If at all possible make sure the fish eats before you take it home. Rays under 8" in diameter can be touchy.

As long as one isn't out competeing the other for food. I kept a 6in retic in with a 9in and 12in motoro pair. She did fine in there, I just had to make sure she got enough to eat.

Shouldn't really have a problem then. Also if you get a motoro smaller than your retic, the size of your retic should make of for the agressive eating habbits of motoros, cause they are very greedy eaters.

i am thinking of making a pond can i make it out of an old metal beer can it holds like 80 or 90 gallons of water it is in a shape of an oval and all i would need to do is plumb a filter into it and put a pond liner in it would that be alright for a couple of rays? im trying to think of an inexpensive way instead of buying a new aquarium :feedback:

Doesn't sound like the best idea to me, just don't like the fact that it is metal and the chances of it rusting out. Also a ray will need something much larger than that for long term.

If you wan't something inexpensive go with a 300gl rubbermaid tub. That would be really good for a couple rays and I may do one of those as well. They average anywhere from $146 to a little over $200. They are very durable and you can cut into them easy and you don't need a liner.

I think its pearl of paradise that makes pond prefab ponds. They are not too expensive i think under $200. PM Michael for details because he just set one up and its awesome.
