hey honda I just checked on my retic to feed them and he has a white edge on his disk is that normal or is he infected?

The white could be a fungus. Did he eat?
As far as your tub I suggest you do it right and dont use it. Get a rubbemaid or build one out of wood and line it with a pond liner.
Here is my advice to noobs....DONT KEEP RAYS UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO SPEND LOTS OF $$$$$!!!
They grow large, even the smallest. $$$

Rays are not cheap fish themselves and especially when you consider the money it costs to house them properly.

You're having problems housing the retic, and you want to get a motoro pup? If this is your plan, you are ultimately going to need a much bigger tank or pond -- there's no getting around it. Motoros grow quite large, and the females can get to be around 2'. Please, please don't buy this fish unless you're planning on upgrading to at least a 240 in the near future (and even this is small for a fully-grown motoro and the other fish you've got).
great post i set up my 235 just for rays(and i cant even get the histrix yet) and belive me it wasnt cheap. im sure i coulda spent way more too. but it was all setup around my gettin rays. so please everyone do your homework before you buy rays they are not the common goldfish.
i did my homework it was the last of the retics and it was only $50 and he was 4" so i bought him or her
i was directing that at you i was sayin that for everyone to many people rush into gettin a ray and have no idea about them

did you just notice that white thing on the edge? it could be fungus or ammonia burn.
