I could not put a value on what fish keeping is worth to me. I have had up to 50 tanks at one time 8 to 120 gal. The one that ment the most to me was a 100 gal Discus tank. With wild caught 6 inch or larger pairs. At that time the names aren't what they are now. Blues, Reds, Greens and Browns. In the 70s $90.00 a pair for the coloreds and $40.00 for the browns. I always wanted that set up. I got it (hog heaven) spent hours with that tank. Maybe some of you have heard of hole in the head bad in wild caught then. I haven't had discus 1 sence then.
